We are seeking a meticulous and passionate Editor/Proofreader to join our dynamic blogging team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality of written content published on the Muslimah app. Your keen eye for detail and strong command of the English language will be essential in producing error-free, engaging, and impactful content that resonates with our target audience.

Note these positions are unpaid and designed for individuals looking to add to their portfolio/being part of an emerging organisation focusing on empowering Muslim women and looking to make a difference.

Key Responsibilities

• Thorough Editing & Proofreading:
• Meticulously review all blog posts and articles for grammatical errors, typos, punctuation, and spelling mistakes.
• Ensure consistency in style, tone, and voice across all published content.
• Check for factual accuracy and clarity of information.
• Identify and suggest improvements in sentence structure, word choice, and overall readability.

• Content Quality Control:
• Maintain a high level of quality and consistency in all published content.
• Collaborate with content writers to improve the overall quality of their work.

• SEO Considerations:
• Assist in optimising content for search engines by suggesting relevant keywords and ensuring proper keyword placement.
• Ensure content is SEO-friendly and adheres to best practices for online visibility.



• Other Duties:
• Participate in editorial meetings and brainstorming sessions.
• Assist with content scheduling and planning.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in content creation and editing.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an editor, proofreader, or copyeditor.
• Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct errors accurately.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of SEO principles is a plus.
• Passion for the mission of the Muslimah app and a deep understanding of its target audience.
